A tasty side dish to accompany any curry or a complete vegetarian meal on its own.

 

Super tasty and easy to make.  Suitable for rice cookers.  Recipe on back of pack.

 

Hand blended using a mix of dried herbs and spices, garlic, chilli, onion powder, salt

TO MAKE SPICED INDIAN RICE, YOU WILL NEED:

1 cup / 250g long grain rice

1 onion diced

1 tbsp spice mix

400ml liquid stock – chicken or vegetable

400g can brown lentils – drained and rinsed

 

Rice cooker method:  Put all ingredients into a rice cooker.  Mix together and turn rice cooker on.  Rice cooker should turn off automatically when rice is cooked and liquid has been absorbed.

Stove top method: Bring stock to the boil. Add onion, rice, spice mix and lentils. Cover and cook for 15-20 mins or until tender. Stir occasionally to avoid catching on pan.
